Verdejo was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and has two brothers and two sisters.Verdejo, the only boxer in the family, started boxing when he was nine years old.On August 7, 2016, Verdejo was involved in a motorcycle accident while traveling from Fajardo to Carolina, Puerto Rico.At first listed in critical condition, he recuperated quickly at a local hospital.
